The 3 story wood frame mill with asbestos siding was a water-powered mill in earlier years as was evidenced by an existing millrace. It was an operating feed mill in the 1980's, but in 2001, it was Dunaway's Houston Feed, Saddle & Tack. Somewhat of a feed mill perhaps.
*Update: In Jan. 1889, the Houston Roller Mill was organized with C.W. Fitch as the manager. In 1904, the McCaskill Milling Co. which included John & Jack McCaskill & others took charge. In 1906, Jack & his son Clarence McCaskill became the owners. In the early years ice was cut out of the mill pond & stored in ice houses for distribution. The mill
manufactured flour, meal, dairy feeds, hog feed etc. The mill & ice plant served several towns including Summersville. In 1959 Clarence McCaskill retired & sold the mill to Rowland Amelon. Pat L. Moyer 9/22/2005*
