The mill was built pre-Revolutionary War period, as it was used greatly during this time for flour to supply America's freedomfighters. Harry Bannister and his first wife, actress Ann Harding, converted the mill into a theater and home in the late 1930's and early 1940's. Many screen stars of the time period were invited to private screenings at Bannister's outdoor theater.

One such screening was advertised: HARVEST and THE DESERT RAT staring Frank Farnum. No admission charge, popular prices for food and drink, table service: 25 cents/person, free parking. The mill/home was owned by Ben Romano in 1985. *information gleaned from a book on Greenwich Twp. history published by the Greenwich Township Historical Society*
