The Grist Mill at Mt. Peasant, N.J. was renovated to apartments prior to October 1987 when the photo was taken. The 35'X 50' 3.5 story mill,of which the bottom story is fieldstone and the others are frame, still has a steel waterwheel in the wheel pit on the right side under the rear section of the covered roof. A natural stone supported the sluice trough that brought the waters of Harihokake Creek to the overstot wheel. The mill was in excellent condition in 1987. Not visited since by photographer Jim Miller.

From Milford, N.J. along the Delaware River, take NJ 519 from the center of town east for 5 miles to Mt. Pleasant at the junction of NJ 519 and Ricks Rd. The mill is near the SE corner of the intersection. |
