The magnificent limestone 40'X 60', 4.5 story former grist mill just north of the Main St. bridge over the Raritan River and across from the Clinton Historical Museum was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The mill was known as Dunham Mill and Hunt's Mill since being built in 1836 by Daniel Hunt. The mill was rebuilt on the site of a mill said to have operated during the American Revolution, supplying Gen. Washington's troops with ground wheat flour at their Morristown/Jockey Hollow encampment.

Operated continuously from 1836-1952, it was sold by then owner and miller, Joseph Kreidel to James Marsh for $10,000. Marsh had earlier had the conception for an art center. Renovations began as early as 1953 and continued through late 1989 to turn the old mill into the Hunterdon Art Center. It is not clear if any equipment remains in the mill.
