The ruins of the Tiger / Geist Grist mill that Burned in 1973. The mill was a frame building of 3 stories with a stone foundation. Latest word has been that there is possibly a plan to rebuild the mill as an historic interpretive / educational structure.
| Directions:
From I-78, Exit 15, Go NE on Old US 22/W. Main St./Cr 513. Go 1.8 miles to Halstead St. and turn left. Continue north on Halstead for 1 mile, left on NJ 31/Cr 513 and continue for 0.7 miles turning right when Cr 513 branches right. Go 1.5 miles on Cr 513/W. Main St. and turn right on Bridge St., crossing over or under Conrail tracks, then left on Main St. for 0.4 miles, right on Liberty St. for 0.1 miles, then left on Mill St./Fairview Ave. This is still Cr 513, so go 5.5 miles to Main St. at Lower Valley. Turn right, go 1 mile over the S. Br. Raritan River, Turn left at the first Intersection, Mill St. Go 500', the mill ruins, raceway and dam are on the left, west side of Mill Street. |
