The 35'X 55' 3.5 story brick on limestone first story mill is located on W. Chocolate Ave./US 422/Ben Franklin Highway 85 about 1 mile west of downtown Hershey near the intersection with N. Hockersville Road along the Conrail tracks.

Paul O. Curry had a mill along Spring Creek near the present Chocolate factory in Hershey in the late 1800's. In 1903, he sold his mill to Milton S. Hershey so that Mr. Hershey could have water rights to operate his chocolate factory.

Paul aquired the present property in the area known as Swatara Station after the sale of the first mill. Curry added a large limestone mill run by electricity. Grinding was done by a hammer mill as well as buhr stone. The mill burned, the result of a short curcuit in the electrical system.

The mill was rebuilt 2.5 stories with brick using the first story of the old limestone mill. Coal was sold as well as grain; and in 1946, fuel oil for heating was added to the product line.

The mill remained in the Curry family for over a hundred years and is currently for sale in July 2006. It is in fair to good condition. Perhaps the mill can be nput to some alternate use that will enable the building to remain much the same as it is in now in the future.
