Pictures by: Steven Faucette -  This shows the bed and breakfast and the large mill wheel.  The mill is situated on the Pitt Branch of the Little Tennessee River which powers the 27' steel waterwheel.  The water is drawn out of a pool about halfway down the 100'cascading waterfall.

The 175 year old mill at Rabun Gap, near Mound City, built somewhere from 1830-1840, has operated for 165 years. Today, it is the Sylvan Falls Mill Bed & Breakfast with Mike & Linda Johnson, proprietors. Click on the web site for more information. GPS: N34 55.66', W83 25.21' El: 2180'




Directions: Driving directions from GA 23/441: From the Blue Ridge Parkway: Exit onto U.S. 23 / 74 heading South / West. In Sylva, merge onto U.S. 23 / 441 Towards Atlanta / Franklin. About 2 miles south of Dillard, GA turn right onto Wolf aork Road ( across from Don's Exxon).Turn left onto Taylor's Chapel Rd. and proceed for 0.1 mile to arrive at the B&B on your right. From Atlanta: Take I-85 north out of Atlanta and left exit to I-985 at Suwanee, heading towards Gainesville. I-985 will merge with U.S. 356 at the 29 mile marker. Take U.S. 356 north it will become GA 23/441 continue north through Clayton and Mountain City. About 1/2 mile north of Mountain City turn left onto Wolf Fork Road (across from Don's Exxon). Turn left onto Taylor's Chapel Rd. (about 2.5 miles) and proceed for 0.1 mile to arrive at the B&B on your right.
